FROM THE MAIN MENU YOU CAN TAILOR THE GAME TO YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR CHOOSE
TO PLAY ONE OF THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF GAMES ON OFFER. SIX OPTIONS ARE
SELECTED BY USING THE HANDY POINTER USE THE JOYSTICK OR MOUSE TO MOVE THE HANDY

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF OPTION:PLAYER OPTIONS(USED TO ADJUST THE PLAY
ENVIRONMENT TO YOUR LIKING) AND VIDEO REPLAYS (USED TO ADJUST THE ACTION
REPLAY FEATURES TO YOUR LIKING).

PLAYER OPTIONS:

EQUAL SKILLS
ALL PLAYERS ON BOTH TEAMS HAVE IDENTICAL ATTRIBUTES AND THEY DONT TIRE
OUT. FOR A MORE REALISTIC MATCH, SELECT INDIVIDUAL SKILLS AND USE THE TEAM
OPTIONS FROM THE MAIN MENU TO ADJUST THE PLAYERS ATTRIBUTES. OBVIOUSLY THE
CLEVER READER WILL REALISE THAT YOU COULS CHANGE ALL OF YOUR TEAMS
ATTRIBUTES TO MAXIMUM AND WIN AT EVERY GAME. WELL IF YOU WANT TO CHEAT
-THATS FINE- IT YOUR GAME AFTER ALL.

VIEW COMPUTER
IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO SEE ANY COMPUTER V COMPUTER MATCHES IN A LEAGUE .
TURN OFF THIS OPTION. A CROSS ON THE OPTIONS PICTURE SHOWS THAT ITS NOT
ACTIVE.

MUSIC ON
IF YOU DONT WISH TO HEAR THE MUSIC SELECT MUSIC OFF.

MATCH MODE
DECIDE WHETHER THE OPPOSING TEAM WILL BE ACTIVE OR NOT. SELECT PRACTICE
MODE TO PLAY AGAINST A GOALKEEPER.

RADAR MODE
YOU CAN SELECT FROM AUTOMATIC OR MANUAL RADAR DISPLAY. WHEN IN MANUAL
MODE,THE RADAR WILL ALWAYS BE ON THE LEFT OF THE DISPLAY. WHEN IN AUTOMATIC
MODE IT WILL CHANGE SIDES DEPENDING ON THE BALL POSITION.

REFEREE MODE
UNLIKE REAL FOOTBALL YOU CAN CHOOS FROM THREE DIFFERENT TYPES OF REFEREE.
WE HAVE SUPPLIED A LENIENT, AVERAGE AND STRICT REFEREE FOR YOU TO CHOOSE
FROM.

PASS MODES
EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS WILL ALLOW YOU TO CUSTOMISE THE PASSING SYSTEM USED
IN THE GAME. THE PASSING SYSTEM CONSISTS OF THREE MAIN MODES, PINGPASS,
POINTPASS AND CURSORPASS. USING THESE THREE ICONS YOU CAN CHOOSE TO HAVE
ANY COMBINATION OF THESE MODES ACTIVE, HOWEVER, AT LEAST ONE MODE WILL
ALWAYS BE SELECTED.

VIDEO REPLAYS

LOAD FILE
LOAD A PREVIOUSLY SAVED ACTION REPLAY FROM DISK. A WINDOW WITH A LIST OF
FILENAMES WILL BE PRESENTED. USE THE HANDY POINTER TO PICK ONE THEN SELECT
LOAD. SELECT CANCEL IF YOU DONT WANT TO LOAD A FILE. THE ARROWS TO THE FAR
RIGHT OF THE WINDOW ARE USED TO RUN THROUGH THE LIST OF FILENAMES. NOTE

YOU MAY NOT WANT TO SEE AN ACTION REPLAY AFTER AVERY GOAL SCORED IN WHICH
CASE YOU SHOULD TURN OFF THIS OPTION. A CROSS ON THE OPTIONS PICTURE SHOWS
THAT ITS NOT ACTIVE.

OVERHEAD VIEW
THE ACTION REPLAY IS AUTOMATICALLY VIEWED FROM ABOVE -OR THE SIDE IF YOU
SELECT SIDE VIEW. NOTE THAT YOU CAN ALSO ALTER THE VIEW DURING REPLAY.



TEAMS

SO YOU DONT LIKE THE SET-UP OF THE TEAMS? FROM HERE YOU CAN ADAPT THE TEAMS
TO YOUR LIKING, CHANGING THE PLAYERS ABILITIES AND EVEN THEIR NAMES. THE
RESULTS CAN BE SAVED TO DISK FOR LATER USE. USE THE HANDY POINTER TO SELECT
A TEAM TO BE TWEAKED. SELECT THE COUNTRY OF YOUR CHOICE FROM THE FIVE FLAGS

FOR EACH OF THE SET PIECE SITUATIONS YOU CAN CHANGE INDIVIDUAL PLAYER
POSITIONS DEPENDING ON WHETHER YOU ARE ATTACKING (IE GOT THE BALL) OR
DEFENDING (YOU DONT HAVE THE BALL). THESE SITUATIONS INCLUDE KICK OFF, GOAL
KICK, LEFT CORNER AND RIGHT CORNER. TO MOVE A PLAYER CLICK ON THE NUMBER
REPRESENTING HIM AND THEN CLICK IN THE NEW POSITION. THAT PLAYER WILL NOW
MOVE TO THAT POSITIN WHEN THE APPROPRIATE SITUATION OCCURS.

IN ADDITION YOU CAN ALSO SELECT THE PLAYERS POSITION USING THE ZONAL
METHOD. WHEN THE EDITOR IS IN THIS MODE, YOU CAN CLICK ON ONE OF THE
COLOURED ZONE TO SELECT IT. THIS ZONE WILL PULSE AND THE PLAYERS POSITIONS
WILL CHANGE. THE POSITIONS THEY NOW OCCUPY ARE THE PREFERRED POSITIONS WHEN
THE BALL IS IN THE PULSATING ZONE. THESE POSITIONS CAN THEN BE ADJUSTED.

THERE ARE THREE WHITE NUMBERS IN CIRCLES DISPLAYED IN THE ZONES. THESE
NUMBERS REPRESENT THE PING PASS TARGETS, WITH THE NUMBER 1 BEING THE

A LONGER PRESS OF THE FIRE BUTTON HAS A DIFFERENT EFFECT..

POINT TO PASS
WHEN YOU STOP PUSHING THE JOYSTICK IN A DIRECTION -I.E.,IT'S CENTRAL THE
PLAYER DIRECTLY UNDER YOUR CONTROL CONTINUES TO RUN.

*PRESS AND HOLD THE FIRE BUTTON.

*PUSH THE JOYSTICK SHAFT IN THE DIRECTION YOU WISH TO PASS THE BALL.

THE ARROW ABOVE THE PASSERS HEAD WILL POINT ACCORDINGLY.

THE PASS WILL THEN BE MADE TO THE PLAYER YOU HAVE SELECTED.

SHOOT
WHEN THE JOYSTICK SHAFT IS NOT CENTRAL AND THE FIRE BUTTON IS PRESSED AND
HELD A SMALL CROSSHAIR WILL APPEAR ON THE PITCH (AND ON THE RADAR) AND
THEPLAYER UNDER YOUR CONTROL IS READY TO KICK THE BALL. THE CROSSHAIR
DOESNT HANG AROUND. IT ZOOMS OFF AWAY FROM THE PLAYER AND IN THE DIRECTION
YOU PUSH THE JOYSTICK SHAFT.

WHEN THE FIRE BUTTON IS RELEASED THE BALL WILL BE KICKED IN THE DIRECTION
OF THE CROSSHAIR (AS SHOWN BY THE ARROW ABOVE THE PLAYER). THE LONGER THE
FIRE BUTTON IS HELD, THE STRONGER THE KICK. THE POSITON OF THE JOYSTICK
SHAFT WHEN THE SHOT IS TAKEN DETERMINES WHETHER THE BALL IS KICKED HIGH OR
LOW OR SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN.

*PUSH THE JOYSTICKSHAFT IN A FORWARD DIRECTION THEN RELEASE THE FIRE BUTTON
TO KICK THE BALL ALONG THE GROUND.

*PUSH THE JOYSTICKSHAFT IN A BACKWARD DIRECTION THEN RELEASE THE FIRE BUTTON
TO KICK THE BALL HIGH.

*PUSH THE JOYSTICK LEFT OR RIGHT OR SIMPLY LEAVE IT IN A CENTRAL POSITION
TO KICK THE BALL WITH A LITTLE BIT OF LIFT.

YOU CAN ALSO USE THE SHOOT MODE TO DIRECT THE PASS TO ANOTHER PLAYER. IF
YOU HAVE THE JOYSTICK SHAFT PUSHED IN A FORWARD DIRECTION. AND HOLD THE
FIRE BUTTON DOWN THE CURSOR WILL APPEAR AS IN THE ABOVE MODE. YOU CAM MOVE
THIS CURSORS AND WHEN YOU RELEASE THE BUTTON THE BALL WILL BE KICKED
TOWARDS THE CURSORS CURRENT POSITION.

THERE IS A BUILT IN AUTOSHOT FEATURE. IF YOU PRESS THE FIRE BUTTON WHEN THE
BALL IS TRAVELLING FRON ONE PLAYERTO ANOTHER, AS SOON AS THE RECEIVER
RECEIVES THE BALL HE WILL SHOOT FOR GOAL IF HE IS IN A SUITABLE POSITION.
YOU CAN USE THIS TO SET UP SOME STUNNING GOALS AND REALLY GIVE THE
OPPOSITION A TOUGH TIME.

NOW THIS MAY ALL SOUND A LITTLE OVER-COMPLICATED, BUT WITH A LITTLE
PRACTICE IT SOON BECOMES SECOND-NATURE AND THE BENEFITS ARE CLEAR.

THROW IN! CORNER!
YOU DONT ACTUALLY GET TO TAKE THROW-INS AND CORNER DIRECTLY. A COMPUTER-
CONTROLLED PLAYER WILL ALWAYS AIM TO THROW OR KICK THE BALL TO THE PLAYER
UNDER YOUR CONTROL. THERE WILL BE A SHORT DELAY BEFORE THE THROW OR KICK
UNLESS YOU PRESS THE FIRE BUTTON TO MAKE THE PLAYER THROW THE BALL.

FREE KICK!
AFTER A FOUL,IF THE JOYSTICK SHAFT IS NOT CENTRED WHEN THE FIRE BUTTON IS
PRESSED THEN A COMPUTER CONTROLLED PLAYER WILL TAKE THE FREE KICK. IF THE
PLAYER YOU CONTROL REMAINS STILL, THE COMPUTER CONTROLLED PLAYER WILL SHOOT
IF THERES A CHANCE TO SCORE OTHERWISE HE WILL PERFORM A PASS. IF THE
JOYSTICK SHAFT IS CENTRED WHEN THE BUTTON IS PRESSES, YOU TAKE THE FREE
KICK. A CROSSHAIR WILL APPEAR ON THE SCREEN (AND THE RADAR). SIMPLY MOVE
THE JOYSTICK SHAFT IN THE DIRECTION YOU WISH TO KICK THE BALL THEN PRESS
THE FIRE BUTTON. THE LONGER THE BUTTON IS HELD , THE STRONGER THE KICK.
NOTE THAT IF THE FREE KICK IS DIRECT, THE OPPOSING TEAMS PLAYERS WILL
AUTOMATICALLY FORM A WALL. THIS IS SIMILAR TO USING THE CURSORMODE TO MAKE
A PASS.

PENALTY!
THE PENALTY KICK IS DIRECTED WITH A CROSSHAIR LIKE THE ONE USED TO SHOOT
DURING PLAY. ONLY THIS ONE MOVES A LITTLE SLOWER. NOTE THAT YOU DO NOT GET
TO CONTROL THE KEEPER EVEN AT THIS STAGE.


VIDEO REPLAY
------------
THE VIDEO REPLAY CAN BE USED TO VIEW AT LEAST THE PREVIOUS 40 SECONDS OF
PLAY. THE VIDEO REPLAY CONTROLS ARE SHOWN IN THE TOP RIGHT-HAND CORNER OF
THE SCREEN. WHEN THE `R' IN THE TOP LEFT-HAND CORNER OF THE SCREEN IS
YELLOW, THE CONTROLS ARE ACTIVE. WHEN ITS GRAY YOU CAN LOOK AROUND THE
PITCH. NOTE:THE AMOUNT OF REPLAY STORED DEPENDS ON THE AMOUNT OF MEMORY
IN YOUR COMPUTER.

*PUSH AND HOLD THE JOYSTICK SHAFT LEFT FOR FULL-SPEED REWIND.
*PUSH AND HOLD THE JOYSTICK SHAFT RIGHT FOR FULL-SPEED FORWARD WIND.
*PUSH THE JOYSTICK SHAFT DOWN TO SELECT PAUSE THEN PUSH THE JOYSTICK SHAFT
UP FOR FRAM-BY-FRAM ADVANCE.
*PUSH THE JOYSTICK SHAFT DOWN TO RETURN TO NORMAL VIDEO PLAY
*PRESS THE FIRE BUTTON TO SWITCH TO VIEW PITCH MODE
*PUSH THE JOYSTICK IN ANY DIRECTION TO VIEW THE PITCH
*PRESS THE FIRE BUTTON TO RETURN TO VIDEO REPLAY CONTROLS.


SAVING ACTION REPLAYS TO DISK
ACTIVATE THE VIDEO REPLAY FEATURE. USE THE REWIND FUNCTION TO SELECT THE
STARTING POINT. REMOVE THE EUROPEAN DISK 2 FROM THE DRIVE. INSERT A
FORMATTED DISK INTO THE INTERNAL DRIVE. PRESS THE `F5' KEY TO SAVE TO THE
DISK THE ACTION REPLAY FROM THE POSITION SHOWN THROUGH TO THE CURRENT STATE
OF PLAY. NOTE THAT THE REPLAY WILL BE TRUNCATED IF IT IS TO DETAILD.
DONT FORGET TO REPLACE THE SAVE DISK WITH THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS DISK 2.

KEKBOARD CONTROLS DURING PLAY
*PRESS THE SPACE BAR TO SPEED UP THE PLAYERS RUNNING ON AND OFF THE PITCH.
*PRESS A SHIFT KEY DURING PLAY TO FREEZE THE ACTION.
*PRESS THE `V' KEY DURING PLAY OR AN ACTION REPLAY TO SWITCH BETWEEN THE
TWO VIEWS: OVERHEAD AND SIDE.
*PRESS THE `R' KEY DURING PLAY TO ACTIVATE THE VIDEO REPLAY FEATURE. PRESS
THE `R' KEY AGAIN TO CONTINUE THE MATCH

SHAKE OFF THE OPPONENT.

THE LENGTH OF THE REPLAY FILE IS DEPENDENT ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE
ACTUAL SEGMENT THAT IS BEING RAPLAYED, AND NOT THE AMOUNT OF MEMORY IN YOUR
COMPUTER. ON AVERAGE YOU SHOULD GET 4O SECONDS WORTH OF REPLAY.
