> 4. Game Play

- A. Objective

- The object of Zoop is to stay alive, by eliminating
pieces before they enter the center (player's)
square.

- To do this, Zoop (fire) your cursor at them.

- If you hit a piece that is the same color as your
cursor, you eliminate it.

- If you hit a piece that is a different color than
your cursor, you exchange colors with that piece
and it will remain on the playing field.

- If you eliminate enough pieces(the number shown in
the upper right corner), you will advance to the
next stage, where game play speed and difficulty
will increase.

- B. Controls

- Move the player's Cursor with the keyboard cursor
keys (the arrow keys).

- Zoop (fire) your piece with the Ctrl
(Control) Button.

- Pause with the P button.

- Quit with the Esc (Escape) button.

Note: You can assign different keys to controls in the
Options Menu under the KEYBOARD option.

- C. Special

- There are some special game pieces that can help
you.

- Proximity Bomb (lighting bolt): Zoop (fire) this
and it will eliminate the piece that it hits and
all the pieces that are touching that piece.

- Line Bomb (asterix): Zoop (fire) this and it will
eliminate the entire line that it hits.

- Color Bomb (rounded star): Zoop (fire) this and it
will eliminate all of the pieces, in one quadrant,
that are the same color as the one it hits.

- Spring : Collect 5 of these and all of the pieces,
on the playing field, will be eliminated.

- D. Score

- The more colored shapes eliminated with a single
zoop (fire), the more points earned.

> 6. Trouble shooting

- A. Video Adapter Considerations

ZOOP (tm) has been shipped with a configuration
that will work for most PCs. Some video adapters do
not implement the standard known as VESA exactly
the same way in their hardware designs. For this
reason, different software drivers are required to
make some adapters work similarly to the others.

We have included a utility that provides a library
of drivers for many of the most popular adapters.
The current version of the utility will not operate
when run from Windows 3.11 or earlier. You must exit
Windows to run the utility.

To run the utility from DOS:

- exit Windows by double-clicking the minus(-)
sign in the upper left corner of your
program manager window and press enter.

- using the Change Directory command 'cd',
change you working directory to the one
which you named in the setup procedure.
i.e. cd \zoop

- Type uvconfig and press ENTER

- Follow the instructions given

- When you are done running uvconfig, simply type:
win and press Enter, to re-enter Windows.

We know of some cards that may not work even after
installing the drivers as described above.

- Orchid Fahrenheit 1280 with S3 chipset number 924
with V3.0 Bios

- Orchid Celsius
Current VESA driver supplied with the adapter will
not help. A new version of the driver is expected
soon that may fix the problem. Please contact
Orchid concerning this driver.

- Matrox MGA Ultima
Can run with the VESA driver supplied with the
adapter. Use the instructions supplied with the
adapter instead of the above instructions to
install the driver.

- Diamond Viper with Weitek 9000 chipset
does not allow Zoop (tm) to run. Nearly all other
Diamond adapters work without problems, when running
Zoop (tm). This Card is not VESA compatable.

Note: If you experience problems with any of the listed
Video cards, please contact the manufacturer of
your card.

- B. Sound Card Considerations

The following is a list of known issues with some
sound cards and any known remedies.

- Aztech Labs SGNXPro 16
Select Sound Blaster Pro from the Setsound program.

- Aztech Labs SG
Select Sound Blaster from the Setsound program.

- Aztech Labs SGNXPro Extra
Select Sound Blaster from the Setsound program.

- Aztech Labs SGPro16
Select Sound Blaster Pro from the Setsound program.
(crashes if Sound Blaster is selected).

- Ensoniq SoundScape
Has a new driver that can be obtained from the
manufacturer. Otherwise you must run GLOAD.EXE from
DOS after selecting Sound Blaster from the Setsound
program. See Section 6D.

- ESS Audio Magician
Try the ESS setting 1st and if you still have a
problem, select Sound Blaster from Setsound program.
Note: Setsound fails to detect this card. You should
make settings manually using those described in the
Sound Card's documentation.

- Media Vision Pro Audio 3D
Select Sound Blaster Pro from the Setsound program.

- Gravis Ultra Sound
Run GLOAD.EXE from DOS after selecting Gravis
Ultra Sound from the Setsound program.
See Section 6D.

There are many others that will work by trying
Sound Blaster or Sound Blaster Pro from the
Setsound program.

Note: This program does not incorporate a full
auto-detect feature. You must know the type
of sound card that you use and choose it during
the running of Setsound. If you do not know
what type of Sound card you have, check the
documentation that was supplied with your
computer, or contact your retailer or computer
manufacturer.

WARNING: You must setup both Midi & Digital for any sound
to work properly.

- C. Memory

- If you have 4 Mb of RAM (depending on how you have
your system setup), you may be able to run it from
DOS. See Section 6D.

- D. Running Zoop (tm) from DOS
