Corridors of Genon
from New Generation Software

Bogul is after you as you attempt to journey through the 'Corridors
of Genon', desperately trying to reach the computer that rules the
Universe. A superb 3D action game from the '3D Expert - Malcolm Evans'
- Computer and Video Games

Playing Instructions
""""""""""""""""""""
When loaded the program will autorun, giving the opportunity to play
by selecting the required speed and level of difficulty, or to
practice the code breaking of Genon's computer.
Having selected the required options, the game will start. Use
cursor keys for movement forward, left and right. The movements are
programmed to auto-repeat. Thus, keeping the left or right key
depressed will enable you to turn around quickly, and keeping the
forward key depressed will result in continuous forward movement.
Alternatively, 'Corridors of Genon' is compatible with the Kempston
or cursor key type joystick (ie Protek). The overlay supplied is
placed on the left hand side of your Spectrum keyboard - CAPS SHIFT
then becomes zero. The numbers are used as and when required
throughout the game for opening or closing doors and code breaking.

THE OVERLAY LOOKS LIKE THIS (Use your imagination)

XXXXXX 7 XXX 8 XXX 9 XX
XXXXX X X X
XXXXX X X X
XXXXXXX 4 XXX 5 XXX 6 XX
XXXXXX X X X
XXXXXX X X X
XXX 0 XXXX 1 XXX 2 XXX 3 XX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Also use the overlay when answering questions at the start of the
game.
You do not need the door in view to open or close it, and the
computer will be closing doors on you, and opening them for Bogul
throughout the first part of the game. Bogul's whereabout is
indicated by the sound of approaching footsteps.
In order to increase the volume of your Spectrum connect the
ear socket of the Spectrum to the Mic output of your recorder
and press Play or Play & Pause, after removing the cassette upon
successful loading.

The Story
"""""""""
The evil that is Genon is relentlessly paralysing the galactic
system. The Cosmos is dying, drained of coherent thought. The computer
on Genon now has all knowledge. All, that is except ... Your E.S.P. is
found to be above all others. Only you can fight the power of Genon.
You are transported through co-ordinated 79.350 and re-energize on
Genon. You are in a circular corridor with doors to the side and ahead
of you. Your senses are in peak condition and you know that your task
is to reach the centre, through 30 corridors and de-code the computer.
You also sense another presence - Bogul. You hear his footsteps. Is he
behind you or in front of you? You run, quickly. Close the door behind
you, open the door to the right, now the left. You thank your masters
for your powers of perception, that allow you to open and close doors
at will.
This is easy you think. Beware of over confidence, remember the
teachings. Open the door. It's Bogul. Run! To late, you feel yourself
being bogulised. Your head is fuzzy from the attack but you carry on.
More doors are closing on you, but you are getting nearer your
objective. No, wait. The door codes are no longer so clear to you. You
are forgetting them. You realise that your E.S.P. is slowly ebbing
away. How many more times can you risk Bogulisation before your
perception is completely drained. You try to remember.
Bogul is coming again. Run faster. The nearer you get to the centre,
the more tired you become. You furiously try to enter the door code.
Too late! Bogulised from behind this time!!!
You are in corridor 26, nearly there. More doors, more problems,
more unknown codes. You stagger into corridor 30. You can feel the
evil behind the door. Door? What door? Where is the last door to the
'Corridor of Genon'. You stumble across it. Turn. Face the door. Tap
in the code. It's in front of you now - the computer you have come to
destroy. One more step.
You are confronted by the evil brain. You know you must break the
code. How does it work? You try. Each attempt wastes time. You can see
the time ticking away on the scanner below you. One black square on
the Histogram, a number is rigt; two black squares, it's in the right
sequence. At last - all correct. A blinding light flashes before you
as the computer passes the knowledge to you, and finally destroys
itself. You can feel your E.S.P. returning. Your head clears. You will
need all your powers to return again and prepare for transportation
back home.
You hear noises. Bogul hasn't given up yet. How long did it take to
break that code? Was it 20 seconds? Bogul has mastered the art of
instant cloning (they just add water these days). Now you have six
boguls to beat. You think things could be worse.
Out into the corridors again. Must get back to No. 1. Footsteps all
around you now. The computer is destroyed. It no longer closes doors
on you. It no longer drives you into Bogul. More footsteps. Footsteps
all around. You see Bogul (or was it a clone). You turn and run. Close
the door behind you. Try to trap him. No chances this time. One lethal
Bogulisation and the game is up.
Must get to No. 1 Must find the way out. Must get home ...
