THE GAME

This year's Games are introduced by M'artaqui Diklorr, Lunar Primi-Omnex lor
this year:-

"Listen up! I shouldn't think that I need to remind you that as tagged citizens
you are allowed to enter the Annual Byrexien Lunar Games. This is your chance to
leave this miserable slime-pit ot a planet and escape to the stars! The winners
of the competition gain their freedom and a one way space-flight to a planet of
their choice aboard the latest X2-11 Star-Hopper, with a luxury rococo decor and
fully air-conditioned."

"Get on with it."

"What?"

"Get on with it."

"Oh. yes. The losers, well, the losers usually don't make it through alive, so
forget about them. This is the start of the tenth Lunar Games, so good luck,
you'll certainly need it. I've never seen such a pathetic looking bunch of no
hopers in my....."

"Shut up."

"What?"

"Shut up."

"Right."

A long pause whilst the 1000 hopefuls take up their positions in the air locks,
then booming over the speakers comes the voice of the Controller.
"724b. suit up! You're first off."

"What a maroon. This guy's a stiff. for sure."

"Yeah, won't make it past the first event."

"Well, better send for a meat-wagon, then."

"Yeah."

And with that the Games begin. Take your place in the race for freedom along
with the others. To win out you have to cope with five separate events, as well
as making it trom one stadium to the next in a fit state to compete. The Games
are:-

EVENT 1
You are given an I.D. card for the games which must be verified by Computer
Central. You are also supplied with a Blaster, just in case things get a little
hectic. The defence system for Com-Cen was designed by Sallay Limwhimfim. the
famous and totally deranged security systems expert, who on completing the
project vanished without trace. Everything which moves around is hostile. Use
the grenades to stop the robots and avoid the lethal hazards lying around.

Get to the computer. Follow the arrows on the screen.
To qualify you must finish in the alloted time.

LINK
Having made your way to docking bay ninety-four, you must then pilot your lunar
skimmer to the location of the next major event. Be forewarned, many competitors
fail to make it past this relatively simple section of the competition. Your
skimmer is a shiny new Zrt model, armed with two band-three energy cannons.

EVENT 2
You are teleported to the new and highly impressive synthi-asteroid field, which
consists of three appealingly coloured rocks. You must leap about on the fields
trying to avoid the superheated plasma spheres, fired at you from deep space by
a meanoid from the planet Zrag. You are also given a specialised Astral Wimp-out
device which will cut in automatically if all your grenades have been used. Too
kind really. Should let you cop it.

LINK
Again, using your skimmer, you must make your way to the next event. The terrain
and its inhabitants are, interestingly enough, far more dangerous than last
time.

EVENT 3
This is the aerial combat range. You are supplied with a very nice hoverpack and
shield generator, in a tasteful shade of white. You must shoot anything which
moves as quickly as you can. Penalties are awarded for all collisions, although
your shield will protect you for all such happenings, for a certain period
anyway.

LINK
Incredibly lethal linking section, consisting of you, your skimmer, some nasties
and journey to the next event. The journey is of course more dangerous than
before.

EVENT 4
You are located on the Fortanich Ridge, you must destroy or be destroyed by the
potentially lethal barrage issuing from the canyon below. Hidden in the canyon
is a family of toxrad-spitting atomic death-badgers. You are equipped with an
exposure timer, the ioxrad must be picked off quickly, since failure to do so
will result in lethal contamination.

LINK
Yet again you must make use of your skimmer to get the next event. Astoundingly,
the landscape has become almost unrecognisably more hostile within the last few
minutes.

EVENT 5
Having arrived at the Olympi-domeyou are positioned on the track slightly ahead
of a highly dangerous and not to mention hungry beast. Your instructions are as
follows;
Run like hell or you will be eaten.
Note: Due to the potentially lethal nature of this event, you are issued with as
Astral Wimp-out device, allowing you to escape to the relative safety of your
skimmer.

LINK
Incredibly, you get to use your skimmer again, only this time you must make your
way to the closing ceremonies, where with due pomp and circumstances you are
awarded your prize!

CONTROLLING THE GAME
All keys are redefinable at the start. Use the on-screen instructions to either
practise each event before competing, or go straight into the competition, which
is each event in turn and to win you have to survive them all!

Throughout the sequences, the keys remain standard, although the effect may
vary! For example "FIRE" lobs a grenade in Event 1 but fires your laser in Event
3. You'll soon get the hang of it. (Outrunning anything means moving your feet
left, right, left, right as fast as possible. Get it?) Good Luck.
