PIT-FIGHTER
-----------

The Game:
---------
Pitfighter - the World's favourite illegal sport, is back for
another season, this time in more locations and more popular
than ever before. Join TY, KATO and BUZZ in a no holds
barred brawl against eight different opponents, all of whom
have their own techniques and methods of foul play.

Getting Started:
----------------
A game for one or two players. Pitfighter is a battle to the
death in an attempt to become the new Pitfighting world
champion. You have the choice of being one of three
fighters:

TY - Kickboxer. His greatest asset is agility, whilst his
special moves are the spin kick, the flying kick and the
roundhouse.

KATO - 3rd Degree Karate Black Belt. His greatest asset is
speed, whilst his special moves are the Combo Punch, the Flip
Kick and the Backhand.

BUZZ - Ex pro Wrestler. His greatest asset is power, whilst
his special moves are the body slam, the head butt and the
piledriver.

You can select your chosen fighter from the title screen in
the game. In a two player game you may, if you wish, select
the same two fighters.

Your task is to defeat each of the seven different fighters
who stand between you and the final duel, the Championship
Match, against the Ultimate Warrior. Every third match you
face is a grudge match, where in two player mode you will
fight the second human player, in one player mode you must
face a computer controlled clone of yourself.

Bonus points are awarded at the end of each round for Knock
Outs. A KO is awarded to the player who delivers the final
blow to the opponent.

Along the way you will find various different object strewn
around the floor of the 'pit' which you may pick up and use
against your opponent:- you can even try picking up and
throwing your opponents.

Objects you will find in the 'pit' are:

THROWING STARS/CRATES/KEGS and BARRELS

- Stand a distance from your opponent and use the "punch"
move to throw the weapon, they can be used only once, unless
they miss their intended receiver, in which case they will
fall to the floor to be used again.

STICKS - Use the "punch" move to crack the stick against your
opponent. The stick will break after a few hits.

On 16-bit versions there are also MOTORBIKES on the later
levels which can be hurled at your fellow fighters.

Inside some of the barrels you will find power pills. When
you see one of these fall out grab it immediately. The lucky
owner of the power pill will have, for a limited time only,
extra powers which double the power of their blows and halve
the power of their opponents blows.

At the end of each round you will be awarded bonus points
according to how you performed in that round. The bonuses
are a FIGHT PURSE, a standard amount awarded for each round,
a KO BONUS, for how many KO's you achieved in the round and a
BRUTALITY BONUS for how brutal you were in the round.

SOUVENIR PROGRAMME
1991/92 SEASON
------------------

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the event of the year. Yes, Pitfighting, the
World's favourite illegal sport, is back for another season.
This time in more locations and more popular than ever
before.

This season we bring you three brave new challengers. Ty,
Buzz and Kato, to replace the three lost last year through
multiple injuries. They'll be out there to battle against
our usual line up of challengers and champions. These three
men have made the switch from their legal sports of
Kickboxing, Wrestling and Karate, tempted by the huge cash
rewards of Pitfighting. We wish them luck in their first
season in the sport. Break a leg you guys!

Big news for this season! Back, for his thrid successive
season as champion, is the Ultimate Warrior. As usual, he'll
be bringing along his henchman Chainman Eddie. Despite
rumours of his impending retirement from Pitfighting late
last season, the bad man is back to crush all opposition and
good luck to him.

Proof that Pitfighting is getting bigger and bigger was given
last month when Yahoma motorcycles entered into a sponsorship
deal with the World Pitfighting Federation, allowing Yahoma
750cc motorcycles to become part of the weaponry allowed in
the 'Pit'. The Pitfighters won't be allowed to ride the
bikes. No! The bikes can only be used by the fighters as
throwing weapons! So watch out for bikes being hurled by the
fighters, along with the kegs, crates, barrels, stools,
knives and shurikens.

Well that's all the news for the start of this season, which
look like it'll be the best on record. All that remains for
me is to wish this season's fighters the very best of luck
and to bid a speedy recovery to all victims of last year's
Pitfights who are still in hospital. So to 'Jumping' Pete
Jeffries, 'Death-dealing' Dean Lester and 'Grating Groats'
John Broggy... get well soon.

Have a great season Pit fans, you know the fighters will.

Dickie Browne
President World Fighting Federation

MEET the FIGHTERS
-----------------

THE EXECUTIONER - Ranked 8th
Not what you would call mild mannered. Weighing in at 252
pounds and standing 6'4" in his leather socks, he is not a
man to be messed with. However, his size means he's not the
quickest fighter in the world.

SOUTSIDE JIM - Ranked 7th
Modestly calls himself the perfect balance between size,
strength and agility, although the Ultimate Warrior proved
him wrong last season. 6'2" of pure muscle and 228 pounds he
fights to pay his mom's medical bills.

ANGEL - Ranked 6th
The doll of the Pitfighters and one very brave, strong and
athletic woman. 154 pounds and only 5'4", but her
devastating speed around the Pit is more than a match for any
man. Let her grip you between her thighs and you may never
get up again.

MAD MILES - Ranked 5th
Vietnam Veteran, and, to put it mildly, raving mad. Miles if
frequently known to spit at his opponents, but army training
certainly taught him how to fight. 5'8" and 172 pounds,
Miles is quick, vicious and knows no fear.

CC RIDER - Ranked 4th
CC rode in on a bike out of nowhere last year. Nothing is
known about him, but in his openingseason he more than held
his own. 218 pounds and 6'2" he's a traditional biker and in
his spare time likes to get involved in bar brawls.

HEAVY METAL - Ranked 3rd
Proved to be the upset of last year. Broke four bones in
"Death-dealing" Dean Lester's body when Lester laughed at his
hair and clothing. At 210 pounds and 6'0" it was probably
not a wise thing to do.

CHAINMAN EDDIE - Ranked 2nd
The Ultimate Warrior's henchman always has a busy season.
Unbeaten by anyone but his boss, Eddie is no man to fool
around. Should be fully recovered this season in a one-on
one Pitfight. 267 pounds, stands at 6'7".

THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR - Ranked 1st
Not known for his sense of humour, the King of Pitfighting
has never been beaten. He injured 'Jumping' Pete Jeffries
and 'Grating Groats' John Broggy so badly (in one bout) that
they're still in hospital today, seven months later. One
Pitfighter was so scared when faced with him that he hurled
himself off the Pitfighting location. Unfortunately, it was
the top floor of a multi-storey car park. 6'8" and 280
pounds, the Ultimate Warrior remains the perfect fighting
machine.
