This game is known outside Japan as "Top Speed".


Full Throttle is Taito's response to Sega's "Out Run". This game was the forerunner of the Taito Z system on which Taito's driving games were based from 1988-91 (You can spot some similarities with "Continental Circus", the first of the Taito Z games).


The car featured is a red Mazda RX-7.


Pony Canyon / Scitron released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (The Ninja Warriors : G.S.M. Taito 1 - D28B0001) on 21/06/1988.

Zuntata Records released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (Zuntata History L'ab-normal 1st - ZTTL-0038) on 01/04/1999.

- Engine sounds only play when driving in tunnels or under bridges, and turbo sounds never play. Nerox91 (ID 00942)

- Turning left doesn't work in analog input mode. uRebelScum (ID 00653)

- 2nd September 2001: David Graves added preliminary support for the Taito TC0150ROD road graphics chip used in the Taito Z games, and he also optimized the sprite drawing in Top Speed.

- 30th August 2001: Robin Merrill submitted a change to Top Speed to use an eight level acceleration and brake.

- 0.54: David Graves fixed road lines in Top Speed. Changed region user1 to user2 and gfx3 to user1.

- 18th August 2001: David Graves cleaned up the Top Speed road color emulation.

- 16th August 2001: David Graves yet improved the road colors in Top Speed.

- 13th August 2001: David Graves added preliminary support for color raster effects in Top Speed, but it isn't perfect yet.

- 0.37b15: Added 'Steering type' dipswitch. Changed input to 3 player and 8-way Joystick.

- 23rd April 2001: David Graves added state saving support to Top Speed and did some minor cleanups.

- 18th January 2001: David Graves added proper sprite flipping support to Top Speed, fixing the round tunnel entrance graphics.

- 4th January 2001: Gerardo Oporto fixed dipswitches in the Top Speed driver.

- 0.37b11: Added dipswitches 'Initial Time', 'Nitros' and 'Allow Continue'.

- 0.37b10: David Graves added Top Speed (World) (Taito 1987) and clones (US) and Full Throttle (Japan).

- 3rd December 2000: David Graves sent in a Taito multiscreen driver update with some bugfixes and he sent in a driver for Top Speed / Full Throttle.
