joemacr: MAME ROM Information.

History:

Joe & Mac Returns (c) 1994 Data East.

For this sequel to the sideways scrolling 1991 beat-em-up, "Caveman Ninja", Data East chose to eschew the former's gameplay and create a single-screen platformer with gameplay hugely similar to Toaplan's, "Snow Bros.", released in 1990.

- TECHNICAL -

Main CPU : ARM (@ 28 Mhz)

- TRIVIA -

Released in May 1994.

- UPDATES -

The only difference between the 2 revisions is that the earlier contains an original bug whereby if you get the 'transport to special stage' powerup at exactly the wrong time the game doesn't progress to the special stage, and you become stuck on the level you're on. The later revision fixes that bug.

0.84 [David Haywood]

WIP:

- 0.98u4: Changed 'Joe & Mac Returns' to clone '(World, Version 1.0, 1994.05.19)' and clone '(set 2)' to parent 'Joe & Mac Returns (World, Version 1.1, 1994.05.27)'. Renamed (joemacr) to (joemacra) and (joemacra) to (joemacr).

- 0.98u3: David Haywood fully emulated the DECO 156 encryption - Game now playable.

- 31st July 2005: R. Belmont - Added preliminary sound and music to Joe and Mac Returns.

- 31st July 2005: David Haywood - Final 156 update for tonight... General: Added Sprites, EEPROM settings don't work on any game and No Sound. Joe And Mac Returns: Playable, although I can set it to either a very fast speed, or a very sluggish speed depending on Vblank, I'm not sure which is correct... Completed a few levels and it didn't crash so it seems ok.

- 30th July 2005: David Haywood - I moved from Magical Drop to Joe and Mac Returns. Note that the tile roms on both sets are bad dumps, hence the corruption in the screenshots. Sprites haven't been added. Fixed the tile banking for the platforms. 2nd Update: It appears we can fix the Joe & Mac Returns tile rom by using bits from each of the bad dumps.

- 0.84: David Haywood added Joe & Mac Returns (Data East 1994) and clone (set 2).
