- TRIVIA -

Released in October 1984. The title of this game translates from Japanese as 'Freshman Tooru-kun'.

In this Japanese version, the character is NOT a student, he is a new company employee (hence the title "New Employee Tooru-kun"). This is the reason that the graphical changes exist between this and overseas versions.

This game is known outside Japan as "Mikie".

The classroom level of Mikie plays the song 'A Hard Day's Night' by The Beatles. The Gym Level plays 'Twist and Shout', the Medley/Russell song made famous by the Fab Four.

* Secret message : In game instruction scene between title screen and demonstration play, input the following code when player character sits on a chair : hold 1P Up + 2P Down then press 1P Start 4 times. "THIS SOFTWARE IS AN ORIGINAL PRODUCT OF KONAMI" should appears.

- PORTS -

TEST MODE:

- Hold down Start 1 & Start 2 keys to enter test mode on start up; then use Start 1 to advance to the next screen.

NOTE:

- The attacking move in Japanese set is the headbutt. In the US set, it is replaced by some sort of 'sonic attack'.

WIP:

- 0.144u7: Kanikani updated Mikie dipswitches.

- 0.139u2: Stephane Humbert fixed dipswitches and inputs in Mikie and clones (after verification of the M6809 code).

- 0.136u4: Fabio Priuli added driver_data struct and save states to Mikie.

- 0.136u1: Robiza fixed possible priority issue in Mikie.

- 0.134u4: Corrado Tomaselli verified on PCB all the clocks for Mikie, changed the M6809 clock to 1536000 Hz and Vsync to 60.59 Hz. Changed the sound chips to variant SN76489A which are the ones on the PCB.

- 15th August 2009: Guru - From Korea thanks to gp-lee we got 'Shin Ib Sa Won - Seok Dol I' (Konami 1984), a Mikie's Korean bootleg.

- 0.130u3: Fabio Priuli improved Konami inputs, verified all 0x00 coinage effects which now use konamipt.h and fixed a few mistakes in Mikie.

- 0.129u4: Nicola Salmoria fixed background music problem in the locker room level of Mikie. Replaced 2x SN76496 sound with 2x SN76489.

- 0.123u2: Changed palettesize to 4096 colors.

- 0.93: Changed 2nd SN76496 clock speed to 3579545 Hz.

- 0.89u4: Cleanup of Mikie driver [Curt Coder]. Changed clock speed of the 2x SN76496 to 1789772 Hz. Fixed rom names.

- 23rd September 1999: Takahiro Nogi has corrected sound frequency in Mikie and Shao-Lin's Road.

- 0.34b2: Nicola Salmoria added Mikie (headbutt version). Changed 'Mikie' to clone 'Mikie (High School Graffiti)'. Renamed (mikie) to (mikiehs). In Mikie (High School Graffiti) your weapon is a whistle instead of a headbutt. In the Japanese version the program roms are identical to the US version, only the graphics are different.

- 0.33RC1: Changed description of 'Mikie (US)' to 'Mikie' and clone '(Japan)' to 'Shinnyuushain Tooru-kun'.

- 0.33b7: Nicola Salmoria added Mikie (US) and clone (Japan). The old one was bad and has been removed.

- 2nd July 1998: Dumped Mikie by Konami (Japanese, 1984).

- 0.31: Gerrit Van Goethem added high score saving to Mikie.

- 0.30: Allard van der Bas, Mirko Buffoni and Stefano Mozzi added Mikie (Konami 1984). Known issues: Some colors are not very convincing, they might be wrong.
