History:

Rush'n Attack (c) 1985 Konami.

In this hectic action game you must help a knife-wielding soldier infiltrate enemy territory in order to rescue some POWs. Grab any weapons you find along the way but you will mainly rely on your trusty knife for this mission. Get moving! Those hostages are not getting any better by you slacking off! :)

- TIPS AND TRICKS -

* Go wild using weapons! : The weapon-providing character appears frequently. You don't have to be thrifty.

* Watch out for ladders! : When a ladder is nearby, you will climb it up/down instead of jumping/crouching. Be careful.

* Watch the enemy carefully : Enemies attacking from a distance always move in a particular way. Watch carefully!

* How to destroy mines ? : Destroy mines with grenades.

* Use the knife rapidly : If enemies come from both the left and right, rapidly use the knife and face both directions.

* Learn enemy appearance patterns : There are certain difficult points in the game. Learn how enemies appear and come up with a way to overcome the situation.

WIP:

- 0.144u7: hap removed unnecessary comments, emulate soundlatch properly, improved interrupts and sync interrupts to scanlines anyway in the Green Beret driver. Fixed Green Beret (bootleg) and added note. Changed VSync to 60.60 Hz.

- 0.142u3: Angelo Salese removed deprecat.h dependancy and updated irqs accordingly for Green Beret driver.

- 0.136u2: Corrado Tomaselli changed Green Beret to use the 76489A variant (verified on PCB).

- 0.136: Kevin Eshbach changed Green Beret sound chip to SN76489 and indicated that Green Beret (bootleg) has an undumped PAL and PROMs.

- 0.135u3: Fabio Priuli added driver data struct and save states to the Green Beret driver.

- 0.133u2: Kanikani cleanup dipswitches in Green Beret.

- 0.133u1: Brian Troha added DIP locations to Green Beret and improved bonus verbiage for the Green Beret driver. Verbiage more like the actual manual. Added 2x 'Unused' dipswitches.

- 0.130u3: Fabio Priuli fixed coin inputs in clone Green Beret (bootleg), they were switched.

- 26th July 2008: Mr. Do - Funny story. Tormod sent me a BUNCH of instruction cards a long time ago. You've probably been seeing them added in every so often. Well, around July of last year, I had completed a whole bunch of them, but then had a computer crash, and they ended up on the "spare" hard drive by mistake. I found them again going through a cleanup. So thanks to Tormod, this week we have Green Beret (EUR and GER versions).

- 0.123u1: Swapped proms ($20, 120). Changed palettesize to 512 colors.

- 0.80: Changed description of clone 'Rush'n Attack' to 'Rush'n Attack (US)'. Fixed dipswitches. Removed 2x 'Unknown' dipswitches and 3rd coin slot.

- 0.78u5: Stefan Jokisch fixed the bad ram message in Green Beret (0.78u2 memory rewrite).

- 0.70u2: Gerald Coy fixed the ROM names in Green Beret.

- 12th October 2001: Phil Stroffolino fixed the tilemap bug which caused the Green Beret cocktail mode problem.

- 4th April 2001: Quench fixed a graphics scrolling bug in Green Beret bootleg.

- 0.35b11: Mirko Buffoni added clone Green Beret (bootleg).

- 0.34b1: Added color proms ($0, 20, 120 - palette, sprites and characters).

- 0.18: Green Beret update [Nicola Salmoria]: The speed should now be VERY accurate. It also syncs correctly with the music. Sound pitch should be correct as well (though it changes after you die for the first time...). High score saving support. Fixed sprite clipping problem on the left of the screen. Fixed memory trashing bug in dirtybuffer handling. I finally added some lousy, very inaccurate, noise to the 76496 emulator. This affects Green Beret. Known issues: The music starts with what seems a correct pitch, but changes after you die for the first time or finish the first level. Weird.

- 0.17: Added Rush'n Attack (the US version). Various fixes to Green Beret [Nicola Salmoria]: Thanks to Paul Swan, it now has 100% accurate colors. Dipswitches didn't work, fixed. I've been told that it actually was too fast, so now it runs slower. Let me know how accurate it is.

- 0.16: Nicola Salmoria added Green Beret (Konami 1985). Game is playable with partial sound (probably inaccurate). Colors are terrible. If you can see what you are doing, it's playable (but should it be this fast? I find it very hard).
