- TRIVIA -

Released in July 1998.

Ver.B is much more common than the original revision.

Scitron / Gamest released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (Pilots Kids, Space Bomber - SGCD-006) on 05/03/1999.

- UPDATES -

Differences in Ver.B compared to the original:

- Intro: picture of man ("No, go to star") has been flipped horizontally

- Intro: spinning "Space Bomber" at bottom right is red instead of silver.

- "Game Over" image has different palette

- Lives counter are animated instead of a larger static image

- Story panes have been added between worlds and when the game is cleared, the original had none

- 'rankings' have been added on all clear ("CAT-2" etc.)

- Gameplay tweaks seem to consist of shrinking the size of bullets in a given encounter (e.g. third wave of bullets for boss 2-4, bullets from saucers in 1-4) presumably to make it a touch easier

Bugs:

- Original PCB videos. Smitdogg (ID 04219)

WIP:

- 15th May 2011: Mr. Do - Looks like sbomber got renamed (again). You can simply grab the LAY file and let ClrMAME work it out. Thank you Roman, for the heads up.

- 0.141u2: hap, N. Francfort, Smitdogg and The Dumping Union added clone Space Bomber. Renamed (sbomberb) to (sbomber).

- 25th January 2011: Smitdogg - We got the original Space Bomber. Most of the boards were converted to Version B so this one is pretty rare.

- 0.136: Added eeprom-sbomberb.bin EEPROM.

- 26th July 2008: Mr. Do - Funny story. Tormod sent me a BUNCH of instruction cards a long time ago. You've probably been seeing them added in every so often. Well, around July of last year, I had completed a whole bunch of them, but then had a computer crash, and they ended up on the "spare" hard drive by mistake. I found them again going through a cleanup. So thanks to Tormod, this week we have Rolling Thunder 2.

- 0.63: Added 'Debug' dipswitch.

- 0.60: Changed description to 'Space Bomber (ver. B)'. Added 'Region' dipswitch.

- 0.59: David Haywood added Space Bomber (ver. B) (Japan) (Psikyo 1998). Are sprite colours 100% now? Black clouds in one level of Space Bomber, maybe alpha.

- 4th March 2002: David Haywood improved the backgrounds in Space Bomber and Gunbird 2, but they still aren't perfect and Strikers 1945 II isn't improved at all.

- 25th February 2002: R. Belmont fixed the EEPROM code in the Psikyo SH-2 games and David Haywood added preliminary background graphics support to Space Bomber, unfortunately it doesn't work in any of the other games.

- 22nd February 2002: David Haywood reported some more progress with the newer Psikyo games. Most color problems are fixed, Sol Divide also works and Daraku Tenshi - The Fallen Angels also works almost up to the actual game but crashes at that point. The background graphics in Strikers 1945 II and Space Bomber are still missing, though.

- 21st February 2002: David Haywood reported some progress in emulating Hitachi SH-2 based Psikyo games. Strikers 1945 II and Space Bomber are playable, although they miss a lot of graphics, have some wrong colors and no sound.
