silvmil: MAME ROM Information.

History:

Silver Millennium (c) 1995 Para JP.

MAME Info:

0.145u7 [Bonky0013, David Haywood]

WIP:

- 0.145u7: Bonky0013 and David Haywood added Silver Millennium (Para 1995). Added known dipswitches & locations. Derived clock speeds from actual OSCs located on the PCB. Updated the TODO list. Added "in line" note about the need to verify the clock speeds [Brian Troha]. Discovered similarities in gotcha.c to Data East Bootleg sprites, also happening to be the closest implementation to Silver Millennium in the sources. Refactored each based on this information [David Haywood].

- 13th April 2012: David Haywood - Bonky0013 found out he had a PCB of Silver Millennium and dumped it. The game has 'adult' content, although I'm not sure when it gets shown or if it requires a dipswitch change like the language does. Images can be viewed in the test mode. The game mechanics are closer to older shooters, with fast aimed bullets, although instead of a lives system the game features an energy bar which is depleted near instantly if you hit a big swarm of bullets. I've done a video of the gameplay from MAME in which you can see the intro, complete with hilariously bad translated text and footage of the first two levels. Hardware doesn't do transparency effects, images are flickered on/off per frame, the game does this a lot when the various girls appear midlevel and such. The video above makes it look transparent as a real monitor would because I've frameblended it to 30fps for optimal YouTube viewing. The sound unfortunately isn't great, the YM2151 at least allows for proper music, but the rest of the sound samples are played through an OKI6295, and the quality of them leaves a lot to be desired. Clocks are not verified, nor is the framerate / refresh rate of the game or the overall audio balance.

- 12th April 2012: Smitdogg - One of the most wanted games in the world just got dumped by Bony0013, Silver Millennium: http://mamedev.emulab.it/undumped/index.php?title=Silver_Millennium. A rare shmup from Korea. It sells for insane amounts on Yahoo Japan. Looks like Bonky got dozens of boards from an operator going out of biz so there will probably be more but none could be as sweet as this. Ready your engines, this is going to kick ass friggin Gunbird style.
