skydiver: MAME ROM Information.

History:

Skydiver (c) 06/1978 Atari.

This is quite a fun game, where you score points for landing on an ever decreasing patch of 'good' land. Why 'good'? As you descend without opening your parachute your landing point becomes smaller, but the points become higher, just don't leave pulling the ripcord too late because the Newtonian laws concerning gravity is working against you. Each time you successfully land the plane goes lower.

- TRIVIA -

The designer of this game was a pinball fan, so this is the first video game to have a pinball feature. The lamps behind the marquee for SKYDIVER are software controllable. When you start the game, the letters flash one at a time. When you jump, the lamps stop on whatever letter is on, and if you land successfully, you 'earn' that letter below your score. Spell out Skydiver, and, depending on the options settings, you could earn a free life, a free game, or bonus points.

Artwork available

WIP:

- 0.128u4: Derived clocks from crystals in Sky Diver [Luigi30]. Changed M6800 CPU1 clock speed to 756000 Hz.

- 0.125u4: Discrete sound update [Couriersud]: Added NODE_RELATIVE(NODE, offset) macro to discrete.h. Fixed driver to use this macro instead of adding directly to the node.

- 0.123u2: Changed palettesize to 8 colors.

- 26th November 2006: Mr. Do - Thanks to Aaron and Addy, we have a nice full bezel for Skydiver now. It's neat to see how the cloud overlay fits in nicely with the bezel. Oh yeah, the lamps work real nice, too.

- 0.106u10: Aaron Giles updated Sky Diver to support the new artwork system.

- 0.88u4: Derrick Renaud added proper watchdog to Sky Diver. Merged memory map and added proper mirroring. Fixed coin input bug skydiver078u3yel. It's not a 100% accurate fix, but will work until I get the exact interrupt time. The current interrupt time was 100% off. It is now less then 25% off.

- 0.80u2: Derrick Renaud updated Sky Diver to use Aaron's DISCRETE_ADJUSTMENT changes.

- 0.80: Derrick Renaud made minor changes in Sky Diver to work with new code.

- 0.78u4: Derrick Renaud added discrete sound to Sky Diver.

- 0.61: Changed visible area to 256x224. Changed input to 6x buttons. Added 'Service Mode' dipswitch.

- 30th May 2002: Zsolt Vasvari cleaned up the Sky Diver driver.

- 28th May 2002: Zsolt Vasvari and Aaron Giles added artwork support to Sky Diver.

- 27th May 2002: Zsolt Vasvari reversed the colors in Skydiver in preparation for adding the artwork.

- 0.35b11: Changed M6800 clock speed to 750000 Hz.

- 0.35b10: Changed M6800 clock speed to 3MHz.

- 0.35b9: Replaced M6802 CPU with M6800.

- 0.35b6: Replaced M6803 CPU with M6802.

- 0.35b2: Mike Balfour and Brad Oliver added Sky Diver (Atari 1978).
