tkdensho: MAME ROM Information.

History:

Touki Denshou - Angel Eyes (c) 1996 Tecmo.

An all-female fighting game featuring 8 selectable angels engaging in one-on-one battle. This game is made by Tecmo, which is not surprising given that they are now more popular because of the "Dead or Alive" series (specifically because of its female characters) than their older series like "Ninja Gaiden".

- TRIVIA -

The title of this game translates from Japanese as 'Fighting Princess Legend - Angel Eyes'.

The characters in this game are either hand drawn, similar to the style found in "Power Instinct 3 - Groove on Fight", or pre-rendered CG that are a bit better than the quality found in "Ragnagard", but not as good as "Killer Instinct"'s. There will be people who will find a pre-rendered CG character fighting a hand drawn character to be a visual clash in this game.

WIP:

- 0.145: Added note about garbage sprites on PCB in clone Toukidenshou - Angel Eyes (VER. 960427) [Stefan Lindberg, hap].

- 0.143u4: Several minor YMZ280B fixes [hap], including the issue that caused glitched sfx in Touki Denshou. Changed parent and clone descriptions to 'Toukidenshou - Angel Eyes'. Changed YMF262 clock speed to 14318181 Hz and YMZ280B to 16934400 Hz.

- 0.133u1: Renamed (tkdensha) to (tkdenshoa).

- 30th July 2008: Guru - Angel Eyes chips arrived to be decapped, thanks to Dox.

- 0.125u6: Changed VSync to 57.445800 Hz.

- 0.125u4: Nuapete and David Haywood fixed Touki Denshou - Game now playable. Nuapete added simulaton of tecmosys protection. David Haywood added many improvements to the tecmosys video and sound emulation. Tomasz Slanina added clone 'Touki Denshou -Angel Eyes- (VER. 960427)'. Changed parent description to 'Touki Denshou -Angel Eyes- (VER. 960614)', 68000 CPU1 clock speed to 16MHz, OKI6295 to 2MHz and visible area to 320x240.

- 3rd June 2008: David Haywood - I've hooked up the blending effect which Deroon uses for it's playfield, and hopefully fixed the reset bug in Angel Eyes. Both will be marked as working in the next update. Dox also got an Angel Eyes PCB with an earlier revision of the game on it, and added support for that in the driver.

- 1st June 2008: David Haywood - Nuapete came up with a solution which allows Angel Eyes to write background scroll registers. At the moment this causes the game to reset at random points (probably protection) but allowed me to hook up the scroll registers. I also added sprite zooming (used on the shadows in Angel Eyes, and various places in Deroon) and fixed the sprite -> tilemap priority. Guru also redumped the Deroon graphic rom which was causing some missing graphics before.

- 31st May 2008: David Haywood - I've continued working on Deroon Dero Dero since Nuapete's protection work, improving the sprites (still missing zoom and some priority/layer stuff) and adding preliminary support for the other layers. It appears that (at least) one of the Deroon sprite roms currently recognised by MAME is a bad dump however, which is causing some missing graphics. The game itself is a nice original variation on the classic 'Puyo Puyo' theme. The improvements also helped Angel Eyes, although Background layer scrolling (which is more important for this game) might be tied to an unemulated part of the protection, as I don't seem to have valid scroll values to work with.

- 30th May 2008: David Haywood - Nuapete simulated the protection on the Tecmo System hardware. This platform has 2 games, Deroon Dero Dero (Tecmo Stackers) and Angel Eyes. The protection was the main holdup, so I've started working on the graphic emulation. Here are the first results of trying to add the non-tile based sprites.

- 0.83: Tomasz Slanina patched the interrupt level1 vector in Touki Denshou -Angel Eyes-, added palette (press X in angel eyes to see 'color bar chack'(!)) and hacks to see more gfx (press Z or X). Changed region gfx1 to gfx2/3 roms, visible area to 336x256 and palettesize to 2049 colors. Added 8-way Joystick with 2x buttons.

- 0.74u2: Added Touki Denshou -Angel Eyes- (Tecmo 1996).

- 0.66: Added 'Touki Denshou -Angel Eyes-' (Testdriver). First version of YMF262 emulator [Jarek Burczynski].
