(5) Instructions for playing
The object of the game is to go around the screen picking up bin liners
from the local area. The only places you can walk along are roads
(arrows), paths(= or small gray square) or where there are dustbins or
bin liners (,, or in text mode or red blobs or a black and yellow
blob in VGA graphics). All other objects are scenery which you can't
walk through except for dogs( or or yellow creatures with a head
and a tail!). If you walk into a dog then it gets cross and attacks you
so badly that you must retire from your job and the game ends. The
actual screen is 32 lines deep but only 16 are displayed at any one
time. To scroll up or down you must move to within 4 spaces of the top
or bottom of the screen and if that edge of the screen is dotted then
the screen will scroll up or down to show the next 4 lines in that
direction. When you move over a dustbin or bin liner and you are
carrying less than 5 then you automatically pick it up. For picking up
a bin liner you get 10 points and for picking up a full bin you get 15
points. If you are carrying more than 4 liners and you go to pick up
another one then you can't pick it up unless you press spacebar on top
of it. If however you are carrying more than 5 liners then there is a
chance that you may drop a liner which would split open causing a mess
and a time penalty of 20 seconds. As soon as you go back to the square
you started on then all the liners you are carrying will be deposited
at the dump. For every liner dumped you get 5 points. As soon as you
dump the last liner then the screen ends. If you have completed the
screen before the time has ran out then you go onto the next screen.
Otherwise you get the sack for being too slow and the game ends. If you
run out of time or bump into a dog then the computer will check if your
score qualifies you to get in to the top 3 chart which will be saved to
disk.
