STORY SO FAR:
===================
For centuries, the elves lived in peace, farming, raising families and living
life day by day. Then, one day the evil Gargoyle Empire invaded the peaceful
village, stealing all the gold and jewels from the elves, leaving them in
destitution. The elves became prisoners in their own village, for the
Gargoyles guarded the outskirts of the village, never allowing the elves
to leave. The Gargoyles had also invaded the King's castle, becoming rulers
of the small country. Desperate, the elves called upon you to help them
regain control of their castle and their gold.


OBJECTIVES:
===================
Gargoyle:
As the elves attempt to recapture the gold in the castle, the Gargoyles drop
deadly firebombs. The elves must carefully maneuver buckets of water to
catch and extinguish all firebombs to save the village from burning. However,
they must also take precaution as to not catch the falling rocks. The rocks
cause the buckets to shrink to half their original size! On the other hand,
if the elves catch the falling rubies, their buckets grow to twice their
original size.

Goal: Help the elves get all the way to the throne room and reclaim their gold.

Keyboard:
* space ....... start new level
* arrow keys ....... move buckets

Joystick:
* button 1 ....... start new level
* button 2 ....... pause game

Mouse:
* button 1 ....... start new level
* button 2 ....... pause game


Gargoyle Revenge:

Now that the elves have reclaimed their gold, the Gargoyles begin to throw the
elves from the windows of the castle tower! This time you must maneuver the
two elves with the trampoline back and forth to meet the falling elves. Each
elf will bounce three times before getting to the safety of the hay wagon.

Goal: Bounce as many falling elves as you can to safety.

Keyboard:
* arrow keys ....... move trampoline

Joystick:
* button 1 ....... release pause
* button 2 ....... pause game

Mouse:
* button 1 ....... release pause
* button 2 ....... pause game


Gargoyle Mania:

The Gargoyles have assembled their army and are attacking again, this time
for the final battle. Now you must help the elves fend off the enemy by
moving their cart back and forth avoiding the attacks and shooting back.
Meanwhile, you must also catch the falling treasures so that you can enhance
your weapons and defenses. The more coins you have the better the weapons
you can buy.

Goal: Destroy all attacking Gargoyles.

Keyboard:
* arrow keys ....... move weapon
* space ....... uses potion (smartbomb)
* ctrl ....... fire weapon
* enter ....... buy/exit store

Joystick:
* button 1 ....... fire weapon
* button 2 ....... uses potion (smartbomb), buy/exit store

Mouse:
* button 1 ....... fire weapon
* button 2 ....... uses potion (smartbomb), buy/exit store

The potions in Mania have different purposes.
Red ..... 10 seconds of invincibility
Green ..... doubles your coinage
Blue ..... smart bomb (joystick button 2, right mouse click, or space bar)
Purple ..... recharges shields to full capacity
Gray ..... gives metal buckets

There are also other falling objects:
Falling elf ..... gives you extra man.
Gold coin ..... worth 200
Silver coin ..... worth 75
Bronze coin ..... worth 25

Between phases, you will be given the chance to buy better weapons with
the coins you have saved. The weapons available (when you can afford them)
are as follows:

Crossbow (Single Arrow)
Crossbow (Double Arrow)
Crossbow (Triple Arrow)

Automatic Rock Shooter
Double barreled Rock Shooter
Explosive Acorn Shooter
Crystal Laser

besides weapons, the following equipment is available:

Metal Buckets (Can not be damaged by enemy fire)
Magnets (pulls falling coins towards buckets)
Shield Regenerator


INSTALLATION:
===================
Copy GARGOY14.ZIP to c:\gargoyle, and unzip files.
Before Playing you must run "setup.exe" to config the sound card.
Type "gargoyle.exe" to run game 1
Type "revenge.exe" to run game 2
Type "mania.exe" to run game 3


SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

1 ..... 640K RAM ( 538k full, 439k min )
2 ..... MINIMUM 386 33 MHZ (486 33 mhz for full speed)
3 ..... Hard disk with 6.5 meg free space
4 ..... VGA card
5 ..... Sound Blaster for music/digitized sound fx

Dos 5.0 is highly recommended for this game.

MEMORY USAGE: -538k for Digitized fx sound and full music
-490k for Digitized fx sound and no music
-439k for game only

NOTE: the game auto configures when run to your amount of memory.
