simulation) IS AVAILABLE ON MANY BULLETIN BOARDS AND
SHAREWARE.
THIS, AND ANY NEW GRAPHIC PROGRAMS REQUIRE COLOR EGA OR VGA
VIDEO ADAPTERS. THE IMAGE IS EXCELLENT IF YOU HAVE A VGA
CARD SUPPORTING 640X480 RESOLUTION MODE. ALSO THE SPEED OF
THE PROCESSOR AND OF THE VIDEO IS THE IMPORTANT FACTOR
BECAUSE EACH IMAGE HAS TO BE RECALCULATED OFTEN. IF YOU RUN
"RUBIK-S" FOR THE FIRST TIME DO NOT USE OPTION #2 FROM THE
INTRO SCREEN, MOST LIKELY THE STORED IMAGE WAS CREATED IN A
DIFFERENT MODE THAN THE ONE SUPPORTED BY YOUR VIDEO ADAPTER.
THE FOLLOWING TEXT IS ONLY A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE
PROGRAM SIMULATING THE VERY WELL KNOWN RUBIK CUBE. IT IS
NECESSARY TO EXPLAIN THAT THIS PROGRAM IS STILL UNDER
DEVELOPMENT, AND AS AN EARLY RELEASE IS PROBABLY NOT FREE
FROM A FEW FLAWS. ONE OF THEM IS SHIFT COUNTER IN EASY MODE.
IT SHOWS HOW MANY MOVES REMAIN TO THE CORRECT SOLUTION, BUT:
1. ONLY COUNTS THE EFFECTIVE MOVES WHICH WERE DONE SINCE
THE START OF THE GAME.
2. DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THAT SOMETIMES MOVES ARE
EXCHANGEABLE IN ORDER, SO IF YOU TRY TO UNDO SUCH SEQUENCE
YOU HAVE TO DO IT IN ONLY ONE WAY IN ORDER TO DECREASE
COUNTS NUMBER. { THIS BUG HAS BEEN FIXED }
3. WHEN THE NUMBER OF MOVES SET IN "PLAY AGAINST COMPUTER"
MODE IS VERY HIGH, MOST LIKELY BY USING THE KNOWN TECHNIQUE,
YOU CAN REACH THE SOLUTION FASTER THEN BY UNDOING THE "MIX"
PROCEDURE.
FOR THE BEGINNER SWITCHING BETWEEN LAYERS IS CERTAINLY
CONFUSING BUT AFTER A WHILE THE STATUS INDICATOR WILL
PROBABLY BE A VERY GOOD GUIDE IN THIS ACTION. MOST FEATURES
OF THIS TOY-PROGRAM ARE LISTED IN THE HELP SCREEN. POPULAR
AND SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE IS FULL OF INFORMATION ABOUT
STRATEGIES LEADING TO THE SOLUTION OF THE RUBIK CUBE. I HAVE
FOUND SOME CONVENIENCE PLAYING ON THE SCREEN BUT, I
PERSONALLY PREFER THE REAL CUBE.
