ptblank: MAME ROM Information.

History:

Point Blank (c) 1994 Namco.

A challenging light gun game where players can select from a variety of target practice mini games.

Many games require skill and accuracy, such as shooting cardboard cutouts of criminals, a one-shot chance at hitting a leaf, aiming for a specific toy from a shelf, and shooting at objects that move across the screen or rush towards the player.

Your 'judgement' is based on your shooting accuracy in some games, and others require you to hit a certain number of targets within the given time.

MAME Info:

0.53 [?]

0.37b16 [Phil Stroffolino]

Bugs:

- Gun calibration error. MAMEBase (ID 02686)

- There's a vertical line of garbage on the door of the "Shoot 14 criminals" stage. Heihachi_73 (ID 01132)

WIP:

- 1st September 2010: Guru - I bought a couple of not working Point Blank PCBs with gun boards (that Smitdogg checked and re-dumped some time ago then sent here), which are now repaired and working fine. That should get my buddy at Jomac off my back for a while since they are very popular in arcades still and are often in need of repair.

- 0.138u2: Guru, Smitdogg and The Dumping Union replaced sound data rom for the Point Blank sets that was incorrectly dumped. The new dump has been verified on 3 different PCBs.

- 0.133u2: Brian Troha and Dumping Union added clone Gun Bullet (World, GN3 Rev B). Changed parent description to 'Point Blank (World, GN2 Rev B)' and clone 'Gun Bullet (Japan)' to 'Gun Bullet (Japan, GN1)'. Renamed (gunbulet) to (gunbuletj).

- 4th August 2009: Smitdogg - Thanks to Brian Troha we got an English version of Gun Bullet (World, GN3 Rev B).

- 0.127u4: R. Belmont changed Point Blank to use real C75 Namco NB-BIOS, read controls the real hardware way. Replaced pr1data.8k with C75.bin.

- 0.78u5: Phil Stroffolino hooked up a private (placeholder) implementation of zdrawgfx() for C355 sprite rendering, adding sprite-tilemap orthogonality for all games using that chip. This fixes problems with the "save Dr. Dan from the flaming torches" stage. The middle 2/3rds of the playing field block out the sprites.

- 0.70u4: Phil Stroffolino fixes the window registers in Namco NB-1 sprite drawing, this fixes the "Tank" stage of Point Blank.

- 20th March 2003: Phil Stroffolino fixed the gun handling in Point Blank / Gun Bullet.

- 0.61: Light gun support [Bryan McPhail].

- 0.53: Added Point Blank (Namco).

- 0.37b16: Phil Stroffolino added Gun Bullet (Japan) (Namco 1994). Known issues: gunbulet needs force feedback.

- 16th June 2001: Phil Stroffolino sent in another Namco NB-1 driver update, adding gun controls but the support is not yet perfect.

- 13th June 2001: Phil Stroffolino sent in a preliminary Namco NB-1 driver which supports Gun Bullet, but controls aren't hooked up yet and graphics roms are corrupt.
