The goal is to collect water. The player must solve puzzles by collecting objects and using them in the right place, then giving them to the right people. To do this, the player must catch a drop of water using the water catcher.

The goal of each level is to collect a certain amount of water within the allotted time. The player character cannot die but loses fruit if they fall too far. Fruit can be collected as they progress through the levels and is used between the 6 levels to purchase traps with different effects (and, of course, at different prices), such as time-killers or switching controls. This is useful because the 2 Martians aren't cooperating and are trying to beat each other's water score.

There are also other items to collect that aren't directly related to puzzle-solving such as a spring for long jumps and items that help counter the level's special hazards. Collecting pills is a bit risky, as they can add or subtract points from the water or fruit meter.
