Set in 3200AD, Outrider pitches you against 3 empires in the fight to colonise new asteroids in deep space. It's a turn-based strategy war game. Up to 3 human or CPU players can take part. Each player controls a force of machines and weaponry, which is replenished by his manufacturing plants. The weapons range from normal tanks, hover tanks, to large robots that'll either smash and destroy, fire missiles or explode violently. The action takes place on a grid-like map, with the players taking it in turns to move their pieces, set up gun placements, and attack enemy cities. You can design your own with Outrider's map editor. The turn-based nature of the game adds elements of thought and strategy to an otherwise chaotic fray and the system is flexible enough to enable you to approach each problem in a slightly different way (you can do several things in one turn). The damage ratios are small enough to drag each battle out without making the effects of your movements insignificant, too.
