Tanx is a game for 1 or 2 players. Each player controls his tank with a joystick. You must shoot your opponent until he runs out of power (indicated by a bar at the top of the screen) while avoiding his bullets.

Collecting power-ups will upgrade your tank. (A) gives you better ammo, (P) restores 1/4 of your power, (S) improves your speed and (I) makes you invincible. Ammo and invincibility will run out after a while.

Avoid red power-ups as they will weaken your tank. Red (A) reduces your ammo or if you have normal ammo, increases your opponents ammo, (P) deducts 1/4 of your power, (S) reduces your speed and (R) reverses your controls. Blue (?) is a random bonus that can be good or bad and the green Super-Tank (ST) bonus gives your tank the best possible ammo, power, speed and makes you invincible and resets your controls to normal if they have been reversed. This is very rare though. There are walls randomly placed on the ground that you cannot drive through or shoot through.
