Inspired by the arcade game Centipede, Bug Blaster is a shooter where you have to destroy a Centipede. The centipede moves across the screen towards you. You control a spaceship at the bottom of the screen that shoots at the centipede as you move left or right or forward and backward a short distance. If you shoot the centipede multiple times, it will split into two parts.

There are mushrooms scattered around the screen and when the centipede hits them it changes direction, but the mushrooms can be shot to make them disappear and get points. Other creatures appear and must be shot or avoided: an insect that places more mushrooms, spiders, scorpions and snails. If you are touched by a creature, you lose one life out of three. If you destroy all parts of the Centipede you will advance to the next level.
