| Pirates of the Barbary Coast tells the story of Captain Articus, who learns after a business deal in the harbor that his ship has been attacked and his daughter Katherine has been kidnapped by the pirate Bloodthroat. To save her, he must raise a ransom of 50,000 gold coins within thirty days. Armed with a treasure map and his experience as a merchant, he begins in the port of Casablanca. There and in other ports, he can buy and sell goods – always with the goal of purchasing cheaply and selling at high prices to gather enough wealth and free Katherine from the pirates' grasp. |
