Long Lance is a tactical naval combat game set in the South Pacific during World War II. It is a strategic simulation in which one or two players control either American or Japanese forces. In single player games, the player competes against a computer opponent. Taking on the role of a naval commander, you assemble task forces, set missions, and respond to events. The game is text-based and played using a board and physical pieces to track unit positions. It covers historical battles such as Savo Island and Guadalcanal, and runs in 20-minute intervals with nighttime scenarios from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The player issues movement orders, adjusts battle doctrine, and leads their ships through strategic maneuvers.
