The Fourth Generation is a horizontally scrolling shoot-em-up with pre-rendered graphics. It's clear that a lot of time and polish has gone into this game, from it's pre-rendered cutscenes to the elaborate ship upgrade system. It seems as though inspiration was taken from many previous games, such as Raptor for the credits/upgrade system and Astrofire for the pre-rendered graphics. The graphics and sound effects are definitely a highlight of this game. You fly missions and destroy everything in order to earn credits to upgrade your ship. You also must spend credits to repair the damage your ship takes during a mission. This game supports two-player simultaneous play using a shared keyboard.
