froggermc: MAME ROM Information. History:
Frogger (c) 1981 Sega Enterprises, Ltd.
- TECHNICAL -
Sega's Frogger came in a rather plain looking Sega cabinet known as the 'Convert-a-Cab'. The cabinets had wood grain sides, and the monitor was laid back at a 45 degree angle (just like the monitor in a "Ms. Pac-Man"). The control panel, monitor bezel, and marquee all have a single tire tread graphic that continues on all of them. Most machines have a large sticker for sideart. This game uses the Konami Classic wiring harness, but it doesn't have any buttons, which limits plug and play conversion quite a bit.
- TRIVIA -
Manufactured by Sega/Gremlin in October 1981, under license from Konami, and it was the first major hit for Sega (in 1982, "Zaxxon" became their number one game). For more information about the game itself, please see the original Konami version entry.

Bugs:
- Clone froggrmc: After starting a game, the sound cuts off. Not in 36 final. Doesn't happen on the other sets of Frogger. Karasu (ID 00100)
WIP:
- 0.137: Fixed rom names in clone Frogger (Sega set 2).
- 0.134u3: Derrick Renaud fixed rom names in clones Frogger (Sega set 1/2).
- 0.133u1: Renamed (frogseg1) to (froggers1), (frogseg2) to (froggers2) and (froggrmc) to (froggermc).
- 0.130u2: Couriersud fixed autosave does not work correctly in clones Frog (Galaxian hardware) and Frogger (Moon Cresta hardware).
- 0.126u1: Couriersud fixed background doesn't rotate in cocktail mode.
- 9th July 2008: Mr. Do - Added cocktail instruction cards to Frogger, thanks to a loan from Gene at Vintage Arcade. Re-did the Frogger upright bezel. The scan that I had (from Vintage Arcade) was kind of dirty, but I was able to use it, along with a control panel overlay, to recreate the bezel. So on this one, the gray pattern background doesn't exactly match the true upright bezel, but it's a lot better than before, and all other parts are correct.
- 0.124u1: Added Discrete sound. Changed visible area to 224x768, palettesize to 32 colors and description of clone 'Frogger (Falcon bootleg)' to 'Frog (Falcon bootleg)'.
- 0.113u2: Changed VSync to 60.606061 Hz.
- 9th August 2006: Mr. Do - Thanks to Trigg, I realized that one game can have more than one view, including more than one type of artwork in the file. (Well, Aaron explained it, but I guess it went woosh over my head the first time). This will be good for a great deal of games. First one will be Frogger.
- 4th August 2006: Mr. Do - Added Frogger bezel, Addy throws in yesterday.
- 0.99u8: Pierpaolo Prazzoli added clone Frogger (Falcon bootleg). Added Frogger color prom to clones Frog and Frog (Galaxian hardware).
- 13th May 2005: f205v dumped Frogger (Falcon bootleg).
- 0.94u2: Aaron Giles adjusted Frogger volume.
- 0.63: Changed description of clone 'Frogger (modified Moon Cresta hardware)' to 'Frogger (Moon Cresta hardware)'.
- 0.59: Added clone Frog (Galaxian hardware) (bootleg 1981).
- 8th February 2002: Mike Coates added a bootleg of Frogger that runs on the Galaxian hardware.
- 0.53: Changed palettesize from 100 to 99 colors.
- 0.37b16: Fixed gfx1 rom loading. Changed VSync to 60.606060Hz and palettesize from 32 to 100 colors.
- 5th March 1999: Aaron Giles has fixed more drivers to work with rotation handling (galaga, frogger, burger time and their clones).
- 0.36b10: Added Frogger (Konami 1981). Changed 'Frogger (set 1)' to clone '(Sega set 2)' and clone '(set 2)' to '(Sega set 1)'. Renamed (frogger) to (frogseg2), (frogsega) to (frogseg1) and (frogger2) to (froggrmc).
- 0.33b7: Added color prom pr-91.6l. Changed description to 'Frogger (set 1)' and clones '(alternate version)' to '(set 2)' and '(alternate version #2)' to '(modified Moon Cresta hardware)'.
- 0.31: Nicola Salmoria added clone Frogger (alternate version #2). Gerald Vanderick added accurate colors to Frogger.
- 0.30: Frank Palazzolo fixed music tempo in Frogger.
- 0.26a: Frogger doesn't have garbled chars anymore.
- 0.22: Some fixes to sprite priority in Frogger. Added high score saving to Frogger.
- 0.20: Frogger music tempo bring back to original value. Fast but flawless!
- 0.19: Some changes to music tempo of Frogger.
- 0.15: Added clone Frogger (alternate version) ("frogsega"), smaller and with different help, but still (C) Sega 1981. Sound support in Frogger [Nicola Salmoria]. All these require -frameskip 1 on my 486/100. I have no idea how accurate the tempo and pitch is. If you can compare it with a real machine, please let me know what's wrong. Added audio CPU roms 608, 609 and 610 from clone frogsega to frogger.
- 0.13: Fixed clone Frog "froggers" [Nicola Salmoria]: I broke it while adding sound to Scramble. It now also uses the correct palette. Yes, I know that it is completely different from the real Frogger. This is a bootleg version, remember.
- 0.08: Mirko Buffoni added better colors to Frogger. Colors for Frogger derived from SPARCADE by Dave Spicer.
- 0.06: Nicola Salmoria added Frogger (Sega 1981) and clone Frog (bootleg, version running on a Scramble board). Game is playable with wrong colors and no sound. Control: Arrows = Move around. Note: Frogger has one 32 bytes palette PROM, connected with resistors to the RGB output. Additionally, there is a bit which is 1 in the upper half of the display (136 lines? I'm not sure of the exact value); it is connected to blue through a 470 ohm resistor. It is used to make the river blue instead of black.
- 12th February 1992: Dumped Frogger (Sega set 2).
