In Spacebase DF-9, you'll build a home among the stars for a motley population of humans and aliens as they go about their daily lives. Mine asteroids, discover derelicts, and deal with the tribulations of galactic resettlement in Earth's distant future. Meteor impacts! Explosive decompression! Unbearable loneliness!Key Features:

Resource management

Carefully plan and build your base using raw matter, mine more from asteroids.

Detailed simulation of oxygen and vacuum

Keep citizens comfy and safe from asphyxiation.

Social simulation

Citizens mingle, forming friendships and enmities that affect morale and base culture.

Duty assignment

Assign citizens to duties they're well suited for, and watch base efficiency and happiness increase as these skills develop.

Planned Features:

The Alpha version here on Early Access is constantly being improved! Here are some of the big ticket items in our near-term development plan:

Carryable objects: Citizens pick up and interact with a wide range of smaller objects: food, tools, trinkets, fashion accessories. Citizens collect and trade some of these based on personal tastes.

Base history screen: See a chronicle of your base you can share with other players. Capture and annotate screenshots to document important or zany events.

Power system: Build Fusion Reactors to provide power to rooms. Without power, lights go out and machines stop working.

Known Issues:

Pardon our space-dust! Here's a list of "known issues" - things we know are broken - in the current version of the game. We also have an internal bug tracker we use to track smaller issues in greater detail, and we'd like to make it publicly readable eventually. For now, we'll use this section to track the things we want you to know have our attention and are thinking about.

When post effects are disabled, emergency lighting makes some rooms pitch black.

Reactor Zones and Fusion Reactor objects don't do anything at the moment. In a future Alpha build they'll be needed to provide power to rooms and base objects.

Players can't zone a room that hasn't been built yet, and place objects in it. At some point we'd like to improve the UI around this so that it's possible to design a complete room using the Construct tool as a kind of "blueprint mode".

People in spacesuits appear to turn purple. This is our temporary visual treatment for "citizen is spacewalking beneath the base". We're working on a proper visual treatment for that.

Citizens ignore dead bodies and don't give them a proper burial. We agree this is sad. In the short term we'd like to add body bags, and in the longer term we'd like to give citizens the ability to hold funeral ceremonies before sending their departed comrade out an airlock in a spacecoffin.
