quartet2a: MAME ROM Information.


Quartet 2 (c) 1986 Sun Corp. of America.

Quartet 2 is not a sequel, it's an update available as a conversion kit :

* You can change characters on the fly during the game when you continue, while in the original Quartet, the characters were affixed to the specific color joystick areas.

* You can have just two players at the same time instead of four.


Originally developed by Sega as "Quartet".

- 0.107u2: Renamed (quartet2) to (quart21), (quartetj) to (quartet1) and (quartt2j) to (quart2).

- 0.106u13: MASH added pld ($400 - pls153.8j) to Quartet and clone (Japan).

- 0.89u2: Added I8751 (8MHz) MCU.

- 0.89u1: Aaron Giles hooked up column/row scroll. This fixed the title screen in Quartet. Changed Z80 CPU2 clock speed to 4MHz.

- 0.88u7: Changed description to 'Quartet (8751 317-unknown)' and clones 'Quartet (Japan)' to 'Quartet (Japan, 8751 317-unknown))', 'Quartet 2' to 'Quartet 2 (8751 317-unknown)' and 'Quartet 2 (Japan)' to 'Quartet 2 (Japan, 8751 317-unknown)'. Changed Z80 CPU2 clock speed to 5MHz palettesize to 6144 colors.

- 0.69: MASH added clone Quartet 2 (Japan).
