Chess Player 2150 - Atari ST
Chess Player 2150 is a chess program that performed well against other programs of the time and won the 1989 British Personal Computer Chess Championship. The author made no secret of his program's prowess. A drop-down menu within the program allows you to compare its performance against Chessmaster 2000, Chessmaster 2100, and Colossus X, in 10 games each.
The game was designed to improve over time, so that a game played against good players is much better than the one you started with. Users have the option to save their games so as not to lose any acquired knowledge.
Although the author clearly intended the game to be used by experienced chess players, he also included original chess pieces. One set includes farm animals (sheep pawns, dog rooks, horse knights, chicken bishops, cow queens and pig kings), another set includes science fiction pieces resembling aliens. The game is playable in 2D or 3D and includes digitized dialogue on the Amiga. |
