In Blitz, a plane moves across the screen at a constant speed. When the plane reaches the far right side of the screen, it moves to the left and drops down one plane's height. Below the plane are several skyscrapers of different heights. The player has to drop bombs from the plane by pressing the space bar. Each bomb can destroy six floors of the skyscraper hit. As the plane descends, it may collide with the remaining blocks, so the tallest skyscrapers should be targeted first. This can only be achieved by destroying every floor of every building and then landing safely on the flat ground.

The game is unusual in that the player only needs to press a single key to play - the space bar.
