“Cosmic Life” puts the player in a cosmic survival battle against a rival opponent. The goal is to establish more thriving colonies on the planet's surface than the competitor. Only those that grow under favorable conditions will survive—others will wither and die. Colonies are formed by individual space pioneers, which are placed on the planet using a joystick-controlled flying saucer. The environment is hostile, requiring pioneers to be grouped together to ensure survival. At the same time, planetary resources are limited, meaning that too many pioneers in one place will lead to starvation. Unpredictable space storms add to the challenge. To win, players must carefully cultivate their own colonies while disrupting their rival's outposts whenever possible—only the strongest will survive.
