“The Factory” is an educational game designed to introduce children to the ideas of programming. The player is presented with a rectangular plate decorated with stripes and holes arranged at different angles. They then have to design a factory production line, which consists of a series of step-by-step processes that lead to the desired pattern. Each step is carried out by a machine that either cuts, punches or rotates an initially smooth plate into strips. Once the machines are selected, the manufacturing process is simulated and the resulting panel is compared to the initial specification.

There are 3 levels of difficulty. The simplest levels only require setting up two or three machines to create the desired patterns. The most difficult levels may require up to eight machines.
