Fröhn is a completely absurd game based on a joke from the German edition of MAD magazine. It was originally meant to parody the supposedly complicated and illogical rules of video games – and the adaptation embraces this idea. You play as the Fröhn, tasked with rescuing his Fröhnline by following bizarre poem instructions. At the start you carry the “Dong,” which doubles as a weapon. The rules are intentionally nonsensical: you must defeat strange enemies like “black warts” or “dead Goths,” feed red breads, chase off creatures, or retrieve treasures with cats. New, unrelated tasks constantly appear, turning the game into a satire of classic action-adventures. The result is deliberate chaos – more parody and gag than serious gameplay.
