Fungus lives on a floating island in space and leads a peaceful life with one problem: the only food he eats are mushrooms found on other nearby islands. The problem with these islands is that they are full of various creatures that don't like having their mushrooms taken away from them, and Fungus can't stop running on them. You control Fungus by viewing the game from the side at an elevated angle and constantly scrolling the screen from left to right. You can move up and down the screen and jump over gaps while avoiding the creatures and obstacles while collecting as many mushrooms as possible. If you touch a creature or obstacle and the island falls along the edges or into gaps, you lose one of four lives and return to the beginning of the island.
