Geopolitique 1990 is an economic simulation in which the player takes control of the USA and tries to defeat the USSR. There are seven scenarios, one representing the actual political situation in 1984 and six hypothetical situations in 1990. The success of a nation is measured by three values: gross national product (trade), prestige (politics) and national security (military). Before each game, the player chooses two of these three values, and if both reach a certain number (depending on the scenario), the game is won. Or, well, lost if the AI was faster. The game does not simulate all countries in the world; in addition to the two opponents, the USA and the USSR, there are only 14 “small countries”, which mostly represent certain regions such as Western Europe.
