The Great Northern War was a conflict in which a coalition led by the Tsarist Empire of Russia successfully challenged the dominance of the Swedish Empire in Northern, Central, and Eastern Europe. Initially, Peter I of Russia, Frederick IV of Denmark-Norway, and Augustus II the Strong of Saxony-Poland-Lithuania were leaders of the anti-Swedish alliance. Frederick IV and Augustus II were defeated by Sweden under Charles XII in 1700 and 1706, respectively, and were removed from the alliance, but rejoined after the defeat of Charles XII at the Battle of Poltava in 1709. George I of Great Britain and the Electorate of Hanover joined the coalition in 1714 for Hanover and in 1717 for Great Britain, while Frederick William I of Brandenburg-Prussia joined in 1715. In this game, you lead the troops, set the strategy, and determine when the cavalry should flank and attack. Good luck, General!
