Greyfell, a land of humanoid animals, has fallen into despair: the evil wizard Mauron has stolen the Orb of Life and is making life hell. But Norman the cat has had enough and decides to do something. The player takes on his role and accompanies Norman on the way to the castle.

Greyfell: Legend of Norman is an isometric action game with puzzle elements. Norman must go through multiple connected screens without scrolling to find objects he can use elsewhere to continue progressing. Some friendly animals, such as a drunken rabbit, give him instructions on what to do when he meets them. Unfortunately, many enemies want to kill Norman and he must either avoid them or repel them with one of three spells or strikes. If he fails to fight enemies effectively, his life energy will be reduced. It can be filled by collecting flowers in the game world.
