Hans Kloss follows the agent Hans Kloss, who must infiltrate a Nazi base to steal secret plans. The plans are scattered in several parts and must all be collected. The agent jumps from platform to platform and uses elevators to move around. Within the base, there are locked doors that require single-use keys to open. The game is structured like a labyrinth, and wrong decisions can make progress impossible. Two energy bars for hunger and thirst constantly deplete and must be replenished with special items. Occasionally, remote-controlled mines appear, which quickly drain both bars upon collision. The game ends if either bar drops to zero or if the agent triggers a sensor that activates a defense turret. Switches can temporarily disable the sensors.
