"Ian Botham's Test Match" offers a cricket experience for one or two players with three different game modes: a limited match, a one-day match, and an extended test match. The player can choose between "Armchair Cricket", where the game assigns names to all team members, and "Custom Team Selection", where custom names can be entered. At the start, a cricket field is displayed with a bowler, a wicket-keeper, and two opposing batsmen. The player strategically places nine fielders around the pitch before the first over begins.
