“Moon Dust” challenges you to cover a porthole at the center of the screen with something called “moon juice”. You control the astronaut Jose Skrjabin, who drops a seed square and then moves in arcing paths across the screen to spread the juice by crossing over the seed. Flight patterns emerge from Jose and from spherical ships you must avoid – and as the moon juice spreads and leaves trails, the music shifts dynamically based on a generative algorithm. Points are awarded after each level using an algorithmic system – and if you score high enough, you'll earn more seeds.
