Based on the arcade game Pooyan, Outback lets you take on the role of Boss Roo, who tries to save nine Joeys from the clutches of the Swagmen in three levels. The game is viewed from the side, with levels displayed on a screen as your hero stands in an elevator powered by a pulley system on the right side of the screen that moves up or down. 32 Swagmen must be killed by using a bow and arrow to destroy the escaping Swagmen's baloons or parachutes, causing them to crash in order to advance to the next level. Before playing the game, you can choose between different options: number of lives (3-5), difficulty level (1-3) and points for extra lives (30,000-50,000). The joystick or keyboard can be used to control Boss Roo.
