Rockus: The Game is a flick-screen platformer originally created as an entry for a 64'er magazine competition in 1993 but never officially released. What makes it remarkable is that about 90% of the code was written in BASIC and only 10% in machine language. You guide a hi-res overlay character through simple platforming levels where you must collect a set number of disks and keys before reaching the exit on the right. Some blocks can be punched to reveal bonus items like diamonds, coins, umbrellas for temporary invulnerability, stars for extra lives, fireballs to throw, or boots for faster running. While a bit glitchy at times, it's a solid little game and offers a fun short challenge.
