"Smash" is an unusual tennis game played from a 2D side view. This means players cannot move sideways but can move forward, backward, and jump, similar to the "Super Volleyball" games. When hitting the ball, the controls allow adjusting shot height and power but not trajectory due to the viewing angle. The camera always follows the ball, so players are not always visible, but a mini-map keeps track of their positions and the ball. There are four male and four female players, each with unique stats and nationalities. The game offers a choice between a single match or a knockout tournament. The number of sets and games per set can be customized in single matches but progressively increase as the player advances through the tournament.
