| Wizardry V: Heart of the Maelstrom continues the story from Legacy of Llylgamyn. The peace brought by L'kbreth's Orb is shattered when chaotic forces begin to rise from beneath the Temple of Sages. These energies concentrate in the Maelstrom, a vast system of tunnels. A party of six adventurers is sent to find the Gatekeeper, the only one capable of sealing the chaos – but he is imprisoned by a rogue sorceress named Sorn. As the party descends through eight levels, they seek help from the Card Lords, appease them by retrieving their suits, and unlock the path to the Heart of the Maelstrom. There, a final battle with Sorn ensues. With her defeat, the Gatekeeper grants the Heart of Abriel, restoring order to Llylgamyn. |
