| Zone of Darkness was an ambitious project by Cherry Software, envisioned as a blend between Flashback and Impossible Mission. The intro alone amazed players with smooth 3D vector animation, a moving car, and haunting music by Shogoon – a true C64 showcase. But just before completion, the team disbanded and development stopped. Only the intro and a few test scenes with a fluidly animated character survived. Most game data was lost in a hard drive crash, and although fragments resurfaced later, Zone of Darkness remains a captivating, unfinished relic of a bold creative vision. |
