Way Of The Exploding Fist, The - Commodore Plus 4
| This ominously titled beat 'em up was the first of many martial arts games developed by the Australian company Melbourne House. There are sixteen different moves, ranging from simple kicks to jumps, flips, and roundhouse kicks. Movement is determined by the character's direction, joystick or keyboard position, and pressing the fire button, which became the standard for single-button control systems. To win, players must score two Yin-Yangs – a strong punch or kick earns a full point, while a weaker one only gets half a point. In the single-player mode, players advance to the Dan level after two consecutive victories, while an opponent's win ends the game. In the two-player mode, the winner is determined after four rounds based on points. |
