Fatal Fury is set in the fictional American town of Southtown. Riddled with crime and corruption and ruled with an iron fist by local mob boss Geese Howard, the town hosts the annual King of Fighters tournament, where the most seasoned fighters compete against Howard's right-hand man, the invincible Billy Kane. Brothers Terry and Andy Bogard decide to take part in the tournament to avenge the death of their father, martial arts expert Jeff Bogard, who was murdered in mysterious circumstances by Geese Howard.
The main original feature of Fatal Fury is the ability to fight on two different planes. Players can move their characters from the front to the back, in particular to dodge their opponent's attacks. The three characters can strike from one plane to the other, or from both planes at once. |
