Hollow Knight: Silksong is a 2D action Metroidvania and the sequel to Hollow Knight. Set in Pharloom, a vertical insect kingdom with caverns, cities, moors, crypts, and a citadel, the game follows Hornet, who is captured and must journey to the citadel to uncover secrets about her origins and the kingdom's past.
The game retains the Metroidvania structure with interconnected areas, ability-based progression, and non-linear exploration. Hornet's combat focuses on speed and agility, including fast melee attacks, backsteps, and acrobatics. Healing and special abilities use Silk, a resource gained in combat. Players explore, solve puzzles, craft tools and traps, and complete quests that can influence the world.
With over 200 enemy types and 40+ bosses, defeating foes rewards materials for upgrades and crafting. A Steel Soul permadeath mode returns, and the hand-drawn 2D art style of the original is preserved. |
