| Checkers is a rather extensive version of Checkers, like the same author's version of Chess. It includes saving a game in progress, special features to allow it to run on a black and white TV, and numerous options before starting a game. You can change skill level, colors, swap sides, skip moves, adjust the amount of random play by the computer, toggle sound on/off, and changing each piece ahead of time. The skill levels have some logic to them, too: level 0 is completely random moves (meant for children, according to the instructions), and even/odd numbered levels are based on the number of moves ahead, and whether it uses classic opening moves, etc. It also has a time indicator, and a confidence indicator that starts once memorized openings are completed and it starts actually analyzing. |
