In “Superman: The Game,” two players — Superman and Darkseid — compete to either save the citizens of Metropolis or lure them into an underground lair. The game board is divided into six sectors, three above ground and three underground. Players use deflectors or superpowers to guide the panicked citizens. A sector can only be exited after collecting a diamond, allowing a new sector to be selected. The transition between sectors is determined by a “battle zone” mini-game, where the winner moves to the chosen sector while the loser is sent back to the previous one. Both players can use limited-range beams—Superman's heat vision and Darkseid's Omega Beam — to influence the game.
