Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is a team based first-person shooter set in the later stages of the Vietnam War. Being a sequel to an expansion of Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad, Rising Storm 2 is focused on tactics and realistic gunplay. Users play has the US or North Vietnamese and utilize a variety of period correct weaponry to re-live notable battles, including Hamburger Hill, Siege of Hu?, among others.
Unlike many large scale battlefield simulation games there's an emphasis on asymmetric gameplay. American forces have the firepower, and mobility of player controlled helicopters, but the Vietnamese have many traps and tunnels at their disposal. Team commanders for each team also have greatly differing abilities that can be evoked to gain momentary advantages. US commanders for example can call in artillery and air strikes to suppress or destroy the enemy, while the Viet Cong commander can utilize the Ho Chi Minh Trail to make their team respawn faster, or activate surface-to-air missiles to destroy US helicopters and planes. |
